4-YEAR TCPP PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Beginning in 2012, the TCPP Training Program will run for 4 years with 30, 3-hour seminars per academic year.

The clinical requirements will include:

  • 3 assessments with 15 hours of supervision
  • 3 ongoing clinical cases with supervision being divided up as 40 + 40 + 35 for a total of 115 hours.

Graduates of the new, more intensive 4 year program will receive a diploma in child psychotherapy, instead of a certificate as in our previous 3 –year program, to reflect the more intensive nature of the program. Our TCPP board, following consultation and much discussion, has decided to make these changes to the training program's requirements in order to reflect the present proposed education requirements of the College of Psychotherapy:

  • A minimum of 360 hours of education/training
  • Completion of a minimum 450 client contact hours
  • 100 hours of clinical supervision

We are committed to ensuring our TCPP graduates will meet the proposed education criteria of 'Registered Psychotherapist' with the College. The College of Psychotherapists is set to be fully functional by 2013; to follow the status of developments in the College and the Transitional Council please visit the following link.
